MARC A. TARANTINO
Rev. Marc A. Tarantino has been a protestant minister for the past 42 years. He started his career in the Dallas Texas Projects working with minority youth. After working in Dallas he moved on to become Associate Pastor of The Father’s Heart Ministry in Alphabet City, in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. A large part of his ministry there was working with addication recovery and homeless patients who had tested positive for HIV Aids during the start of the Aids Pandemic. He worked there throughout the Tompkins Square Riots. He also helped to oversee the large feeding ministry that was attached to the Ministry Center. In the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, he worked with other clergy as counselors for the survivors, families, and first responders. In the 1990’s he became the Senior Pastor of Carlstadt Christian Assembly ministering there until his retirement. He is still a highly respected guest speaker throughout the tri-state and has ministered internationally.
As a Scout Leader he has truly had the Scouting experience on Land, Air and Sea. He became Asst. Scoutmaster of Troop 113 in 2010 and Scoutmaster in 2015. He founded Pack 113 in 2013 and served as a Den Leader and Committee Chair. In 2014 he worked with a core group of youth to start Crew 113 which at its height had over 20 members. Under his leadership as Committee Chair and later Advisor the crew saw 6 youth attain Silver Award and the Council’s first Summit Award was awarded to a member of the Crew. He served as Coach to Varsity Scout Team 113 for 3 years and saw 5 youth attain the Denali Award. He was Committee Chair of Aviation Exploring Post 747 for 3 years. He got involved in Sea Scouting in 2014 serving as Committee Chair of Ship 139 Ranger, Skipper of Ship 911 Remembrance, and Committee Chair of Ship 1908 Rising Phoenix. Under his leadership Ship 911 Remembrance grew to a membership of 27 youth which made it the largest ship in the Northeast Region at the time. The unit received the Northeast Region Award of Excellence every year under his leadership. This unit also included the first and only National Sea Scout Choir. They were a highlight performance at the request of the Secretary of the Navy on the USS New York in 2016. He was the Vice Chair of the NER Sea Scout involvement in NYC’S Veterans Week Parade for many years. He has served Three Rivers District as Asst. District Commissioner, Roundtable Commissioner, and District Committee Member. He currently serves as the NNJC Vice Commodore of Administration. He was the Jersey Shore Council Commodore for 3 years and is directly responsible for restarting that council’s Sea Scout program with creating 3 ships in a year! He also served as the JSC Venturing Officer’s Association Advisor. He was a member of the Area 5 Sea Scout Committee and served on the Regional Sea Scout Subcommittee on Sea Scouting in Urban Environments. He is Seabadge, Powderhorn, Kodiak, and Woodbadge trained. He staffed Seabadge 51-NJ-2019 and Seabadge 67-NJ-2022. He currently serves as a Unit Commissioner on the Three Rivers District Commissioner Staff.
